After graduating in 2005 with a degree in English from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, Michael Ryan returned to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to work as a paralegal at RodaNast, where he was introduced to mass tort litigation. One year later he enrolled at the Villanova University School of Law, and following graduation in 2009, Michael joined the firm’s Philadelphia office as an associate.
During law school Michael was a staff writer and later an associate editor of the Villanova Sports and Entertainment Law Journal. In the summer of 2007 Michael split his time between an externship for the Honorable Kevin J. Cary, now Chief Judge, United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Delaware, and as a clerk at RodaNast. After his experience in bankruptcy and other areas of legal practice, Michael realized he wanted to focus on the challenges and intricacies of complex civil litigation.
Michael knew he would fit in with the team at Lopez McHugh, many of whom he had met during previous employment. Shortly before graduating from law school he began working part-time in the Philadelphia office, allowing him to hit the ground running after the bar examination.
Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Michael spends the majority of his time on mass tort cases involving pharmaceutical liability. When not in the office Michael often enjoys sports, whether he is following Philadelphia teams, playing in a local adult soccer league, or humbling himself on the golf course.
