Mr. Brenes earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003 from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he majored in Law & Society with an emphasis in criminology. While at University of California, Santa Barbara, Mr. Brenes clerked for the nationally recognized, consumer watch dog law firm Lopez, Hodes, Restaino, Milman, & Skikos.
Mr. Brenes earned his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School in 2007. While obtaining his law school education, Mr. Brenes externed for the Cancer Legal Resource Center, providing free help to those with cancer-related legal issues, and continued clerking all three years for Lopez Hodes.
During his clerkship at Lopez Hodes Mr. Brenes worked on a wide variety of mass tort litigations including Zyprexa®, PremPro®, Vioxx® and Guidant/Medtronic defibrillators. He also gained extensive civil litigation experience in the areas of personal injury, including automobile accident and premise liability actions, and medical malpractice, ranging from failure to diagnose cancer and heart attacks, to elder abuse.
Mr. Brenes joined Lopez McHugh LLP in 2007 and currently is working on medical malpractice cases and mass tort cases involving pharmaceutical products and medical devices. He is personally leading the firm’s case specific work in the Bard® Composix® Kugel® Mesh Hernia Patch litigation.
Mr. Brenes is admitted to practice before all of the courts of the State of California and is also certified to practice before the United States District Court, Central District of California. He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (AAJ), Trial Lawyers for Public Justice (TLPJ), American Bar Association (ABA), and the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA).
